Fuel Scarcity: 5.5 Million Litres Supplied To Abuja On Tuesday

The report from the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) on Wednesday was that 167 trucks load of petrol were supplied to Abuja on Tuesday following the suspension of strike by oil workers on Monday.

The strike was which commenced on Monday 18th May by Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASAN), was called off of Monday 25th May after an agreement reached by the Federal Government and the two unions.


The two unions were protesting the inability of the government to meet their demands. The demands includes, inability of the government to carry out overhauling maintenance of refineries in the country and reduction in the pump prices of petroleum products in line with the fall in global prices of crude oil.

Mohammed said that Suleja Depot, which serves Abuja and its environs, had more than enough fuel to meet the needs of consumers as of Wednesday, because filling stations in Abuja received 5.5 million litres (about 167 trucks) by Tuesday night.

The spokesperson expressed concern warned against stockpiling petroleum products by the motorists and the dealers because its certain that the situation would become normal before the weekend.
