Fresh facts have emerged on the reasons why President Muhammadu Buhari was absent at a meeting with APC Senators scheduled by the President for Tuesday morning by 9am.

The meeting between President Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senators could not hold as scheduled following the failure of the President to attend the meeting.

BREAKING TIMES gathered on Wednesday that the meeting, which was to hold at the International Conference Centre (ICC) Abuja failed as President Buhari, slept off upon his arrival in Nigeria early on Tuesday morning from the G7 Summit in Germany.

A source within the Presidency who spoke to BREAKING TIMES on condition of anonymity on Wednesday disclosed that travel fatigue prevented President Buhari from keeping his appointment with the APC Senators. “The President landed that morning and slept through till the time he gave the Senators for the meeting. At the time word could reach the President to remind him of the 9am appointment he gave to the APC Senators, Saraki was already Senate President. He is the one who gave the 9am appointment, so if anyone is telling you something else, it is a lie. The Preisdent slept off”, the source disclosed.

Crisis broke at the venue of the meeting as some lawmakers who were waiting for the President became agitated and confused when information got to them that Saraki had emerged the Senate President. They however rushed out of the ICC, heading to the National Assembly.

Bukola Saraki was elected Senate President while some of his colleagues were still waiting to have a meeting with President Buhari at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja.

The Presidency is yet to issue a statement on why he was absent from the Tuesday’s meeting.
