Chelsea, City plan to hijack United’s bid for Pedro

Backed with Roman Abramovich’s consent, Jose Mourinho is preparing to make a last-ditch bid to snatch Pedro Rodriguez from Manchester United’s grip.

United’s chief executive, Ed Woodward is in Barcelona trying to sort out the transfer for the 28-year-old, but their Premier League rivals are ready to step in.

Chelsea were initially linked to Pedro this summer, but the interest waned as Mourinho and the board remained uncertain if to pursue the deal.

The Blues are not the only English team interested in the Spain international.

Manchester City are keeping tabs on the player, but will only follow up their interest if their bid to land Wolfsburg midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne, does not materalise.

United, however, remain confident of landing the player.
