The Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti
State says it has expelled its secretary, Dr. Tope Aluko, and three
other members of the state working committee over anti-party activities.
The other expelled members include the
Vice-Chairman, North, Tunde Olatunde; assistant secretary, Tunji
Olanrewaju; and women leader, Mrs. Busola Oyebode.
The party in a statement on Friday
explained that the expulsion of the officers followed the state
executive committee’s adoption of the recommendations by the
disciplinary committee set up by the party to probe the allegations
levelled against them.
The SEC, however, added that it had
ratified the appointment of new members into the working committee as
replacement for the expelled members. The new members are Faleye Nelson
as the deputy chairman; Adejorin Temitope as the state secretary;
Gbeyiro Sunday as the vice-chairman, North; Afolabi Yemisi as the women
leader; and Jackson Adebayo as the publicity secretary, among others.
According
to the statement, the SEC also expressed its support for the chairman
of the party in the state, Chief Idowu Faleye, while appreciating the
role of the NWC, elders of the party and other stakeholders in the
matter. It also commended the governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, for his
leadership qualities.
