Police Chief Direct Medical Practitioners to Treat Victims of Gunshots, Accident

The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, on Saturday directed Medical Practitioners in the state to attend to accident victims and persons with gunshot injuries.

He however ordered that hospital should inform the police for necessary action when needed.

While explaining reasons behind the directive, Arase said the request is imperative following series of neglects and consequence of death victims as a result of refusal or delayed treatment by medical personnel of being implicated without police report.

Police spokesman, Emmanuel Ojukwu, a Commissioner of Police, said doctors on duty are now mandated to treat victims of gunshot wounds and then inform the police about the victims as contained in a statement.
