Man discovered dead in Lagos hotel with phone contacts deleted

A man, identified as Sunday, has been discovered dead with all the contacts on his mobile phone deleted at a hotel room located at Ishawo Road in the Ikorodu Area of Lagos State.

It was learnt that a staff of the hotel, Western Lodge Hotel, discovered Sunday’s corpse in the room where he lodged in.

Following the discovery of Sunday’s corpse, the incident was reported at the Owutu Police Division while his corpse was deposited in the Ikorodu General Hospital Mortuary.

Punch reports that despite the incident, business at the hotel has continued as usual.

Reacting to the incident, a source said the deceased was poisoned. “He checked in around that 10 am. It was around 1 am that his corpse was discovered. The man was poisoned. The owner of the hotel reported at Owutu that they found his corpse in his room.

“But when the police checked the man’s phone, they discovered that all the contacts and his phone calls had been deleted. There was nothing with which to identify him. Nobody knows his address and family.”

Another source, who works in a hotel in the area, however alleged that the deceased may have killed himself, adding that since the incident occurred, the hotel had been operating its business.

He affirmed: “I was told that somebody died there, but I don’t know the details except that when he got inside the room, he decided to take his own life. The hotel has continued to run its business as usual. In fact, not many people are aware of it.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police spokesperson, Patricia Amadin, said the deceased died in the hotel, adding that investigation is ongoing into ascertaining the cause of death.
