Former Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola (SAN) has secured
the endorsement of all the three senators from his state in his quest to
be a minister in the President Muhammadu Buhari cabinet.
Senator Gbenga Ashafa, representing the Lagos East Senatorial Constituency, said this on Monday night in Abuja.
He said he and the other two senators, Oluremi Tinubu and Solomon Adeola, unanimously agreed to back the immediate past governor and ensure that he scales through the screening process.
“We considered the good work Tunde Fashola did in the 8 years he led our dear state and we believe he would be a worthy ambassador of Lagos state in the Federal Executive Council,” Senator Ashafa said.
“We trust his judgement and his intelligence. He put Lagos on the world map and we are proud to call him our own. We believe he will do very well in whatever role he is assigned by our fearless and visionary leader, President Muhammadu Buhari.”
With this endorsement by the trio of senators from Lagos state, Mr. Fashola is now expected to enjoy safe passage through the screening process.
His nomination for minister was announced on the floor of the Red Chambers last Tuesday along with 20 other names.
Another set of names have been submitted for screening to the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki.
