Nigeria are through to the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-17 World Cup
in Chile, after they annihilated Australia 6-0 in Vina Del Mar on
Thursday morning.
The competition’s top scorer, Victor Osimhen, scored a hat-trick and now have seven goals in four matches, as Emmanuel Amuneke’s boys turned on the style against the Australians.
Osimhen opened scoring in the 22nd minute, with a powerful run and finish down the left, before Kelechi Nwakali made it 2-0 from the penalty spot four minutes later.
Cameron Joice almost pulled one goal back for the Joeys, but his finish was wayward.
The Golden Eaglets added four more goals in the second, as Australia struggled to cope with their passing and movement.
Nigeria will now play Brazil in the last eight on Sunday.
