While details of the deal still remains sketchy, top officials of Sony Music who were present at the signing have spoken regarding the new partnership with the African music star.
The deal, according Sony Music, represents a step forward for Sony Music Entertainment as it grows its root in Africa.
Sean Watson, managing director, Sony Music Entertainment Africa says, “Working with incredible talent like Davido heralds a new era for Sony Music Entertainment Africa on the continent. We couldn’t be prouder of our partnership with Davido and we are extremely keen to support his vision to succeed at the highest level in our industry.”
Adam Granite, President, Northern & Eastern Europe and Africa commented. “We are thrilled to welcome Davido into the Sony Music family. We are very much looking forward to bringing one of Africa’s biggest stars to the world.
We are also excited to partner with Kamal Ajiboye, Davido’s manager as well as Efe Ogbeni, who will be executive producing the album on our behalf.”
Meanwhile, fans of the Pop star have criticised him for lack of respect as he celebrates his new feat.
Davido, while celebrating his new deal, took to social media to share a post which angered most of his followers who publicly lashed him.
According to him, “I’m getting too much money to be worried about social media!! SHIT AINT REAL ON HERE!!”
His fans were angered by post and immediately called him out for lack of respect.
A fan with the handle, youngahmed03 says, “Just got in here and saw d comment box @davidoofficial u really f–ked up by bull sh–ting ur fans u are practically nothing without ur fans when u said shiits ain’t real on social media why do u express every single thing abt u here frm ur baby mama and dele mommodu to ur sony endorsement here on instagram u even went far as telling us abt ur show in amsterdam pls who are u telling those HKN GANGS??? Or who is gonna come watch d show is it not ur fans guy just know how to relate with ur fans and treat us with respect pls…..A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR THE WISE.”
Another fan, elvismoney9912 was forced to compare Davido’s feat with that of close rival, Wizkid, “If it Comes to international recognition n–ga Wizkid get am pass u him no need illuminati to do am for am and is flicking humble and prays for his fans ur own na to insult dem f–k boy.”
