After the Times Square New Year’s Eve performance, Mariah Carey‘s team and Dick Clark Production (DCP) have been going back and forth on who is to take the blame for the singer’s bad performance.

Carey’s team reportedly claimed that the sound from the ear piece was ‘choppy’ which the singer complained about before going on stage.

Carey’s team said DCP assured her that the issue will be fixed by the time she goes on stage.

As soon as the singer hit the stage on Saturday, sound problems affected her performance of ‘Auld Lang Syne’, ‘Emotions’ and ‘We Belong Togther’

The team also debunked accusations made by DCP that Carey didn’t show up for vocal rehearsals.
“She went through vocals and her team ran through sound. All was well at rehearsal. She was prompt for rehearsal and her performance.”
People.com reported that TMZ posted photos and a video where Carey was seen rehearsing with her back up dancers prior to her performance.
Dick Clark Productions however opposed this and accused Carey’s team of defamation. They stated that
“In very rare instances there are of course technical errors that can occur with live television, however our initial investigation has indicated that DCP had no involvement in the challenges associated with Ms Carey’s New Year’s Eve Performance.”
DCP also said Carey refused to do sound check rehearsals.
