Osun 2018: Adegoke, guber aspirant intensifies consultations *visits traditional rulers for royal endorsement BY RASAQ BAMIDELE

A lawyer and governorship aspirant in Osun State, Abdur-Rasheed Kunle Adegoke (K-RAD), is not leaving any stone unturned towards achieving his ambition of becoming the next governor of the state next year.
Adegoke, who hails from Osogbo in the Central Senatorial District of the State is an unbowed democrat, who doesn’t believe in any impediment to anybody’s ambition in any democratic setting. This must have informed his insistence in coming out to contest even with the so called rotational system in operation across the country.
In addition to that, coming out of the youthful lawyer has confirmed the rumoured stand of Osogbo indigenes who are said to be unhappy over the fact that none of their sons and daughters had been governor since the creation of the state 26 years ago inspite of the city being the capital of the state.
The Parroters learnt from a reliable source that Adegoke, having succeeded in his meetings with party leaders across the state and beyond has shifted focus to some foremost traditional rulers in the state.
The source confided in our correspondent that, “even yesterday (Monday), K-RAD was with one of the First Class monarchs who warmly welcome him and described his aspiration as a welcome development to the state in general and to the city in particular.”
Another source, who was part of the meeting in the monarch’s palace expressed delight the way the Oba received the aspirant saying, “in fact, it was outright endorsement from the respected Oba who rained royal blessing on Rasheed.”
Our correspondent learnt also that the monarch assured the aspirant of his royal support just as he promised to solicit the support of other royal fathers across the state for K-RAD’s gubernatorial aspiration.
Recall that both Chief Abdul-Kareem Adebisi Akande and Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola from the Central had been governors in the state for almost 12 year while Ogbeni Aregbesola from the East will by next year complete his second term in office. The West, which had the feel of the coveted position for only 22 months, is expected to produce the next governor. But with the stand of some Osogbo stakeholders that the capital city also deserves to be honoured with the slot, the permutation has therefore become interesting.
As events unfold, The Parroters promises you of constant updates.
