SECOND Republic deputy speaker in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Chief Joseph Adesokan is dead. He would have been 83 years next month.
His death was announced by one of his children, Mr Segun Adesokan, a lawyer and former special adviser on Due Process to Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
A staunch leader in the progressive circle, Chief Adesokan was deputy speaker between 1979 and 1983 on the banner of the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) during the late Chief Bola Ige administration.
At the restoration of civil rule in 1999, he was appointed Commissioner for Local Government and Agriculture during the administration of the late Alhaji Lam Adesina.
The last public outing of the Fiditi-born politician was the 80th birthday of his associate, Chief Michael Koleosho, in Saki on April 30 this year.
He is survived by a wife and children. His funeral will be announced by the family later.
