The Alliance for New Nigeria which has been adopted by the Nigeria Intervention Movement, says it is targeting unregistered voters or registered persons who have never voted before.
The NIM led by a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba; and a former Presidential aspirant, Dr. Abdujalil Tafawa-Balewa, had recently adopted the ANN ahead of the 2019 general elections
The Chairman of the ANN, Jay Samuels, said at a press conference shortly after receiving supporters in Abuja that the party was working towards defeating the All Progressives Congress next year.
According to Samuels, unregistered or uninterested voters constitute a large portion of the total voting population, adding that his party will exploit this opportunity.
The chairman said, “Our main strategy is to create a new bloc of voters; a new generation of voters by focusing on the 80 per cent of voters or more of Nigerians that either are eligible to vote but are not registered to vote or they are registered to vote but never voted or people that have never shown even a passive interest in the politics of Nigeria. These are the kind of people we are focusing on.”
He said the party was open to working with any party that shared its ideals.
