Community members have reportedly raised $100,000 for a Los Angeles teacher who was filmed in a viral video punching a student who had repeatedly called him a 'racial slur and other names.'
A Gofundme page was set up with a goal of $30,000 for Marston Riley, a music teacher at Maywood Academy High School, but as at Tuesday, the donations surpassed the original goal.
In the viral video, Riley is repeatedly seen punching the student, who also returns some of the blows. But before the scuffle, the student was said to have to hurled a basketball at the 64-year-old Riley and called him names repeatedly.
The student was treated for minor injuries, and Riley was arrested on suspicion of child abuse but has been released on bond.
