The DCO

A human rights activist wearing lawyer’s robe has reportedly stormed the “C” Division Police Station in Delta State battered the DPO and DCO after the DPO refused to grant his demand to release two suspected cultists held by the police in a murder case.

The Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, DSP Andrew Aniamaka and Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammad Mustafa, have confirmed the incident.

According to reports, the activist met the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Aniete Uyo, and while introducing himself, the DPO had some reservations and asked some pertinent questions on his identity, which infuriated him.

Consequently, he confronted Uyo for having the audacity to cross-examine him, dealing him a punch. He was reported to have torn his uniform and went on a vandalization spree of his office.

Reports indicate that the Divisional Crime Officer, who interfered in the activist’s matter with the DPO sustained serious head injury and has been rushed to the hospital for ttreatment.

The assaulter has however been ceased having attempted to flee.

According to the Commissioner of Police, Mustafa, said: “The supposed activist and three other persons, who carried out the attack on the policemen have been arrested. We are going to arraign them in court for the incident; you cannot invade a police station and fight our officers in that way.”

Sources hinted that some persons had intervened, pleading with the Commissioner to drop the matter.
