ANOTHER FUT, MINNA LECTURER EMERGES BEST PhD STUDENT IN MALAYSIA
Dr. Ismaila Idris of the Department of Cyber Security, School of Information & Communication Technology (SICT) of the institution emerged as the Best graduate PhD student in Computer Science, Universiti of Teknologi, Malaysia (UTM), based on his excellent academic achievement.The award was bestowed on him during the 53rd Convocation ceremony of the institution held recently.
Speaking at the brief
presentation of the award to the University, the Vice-Chancellor of the
institution, Prof. Musbau Adewumi Akanji, FNSBMB, congratulated the lecturer
for making the University proud and expressed satisfaction with the performance
of most of the FUT, Minna, academic staff who have concluded their doctoral
programmes.
Prof.
Akanji urged other academic staff of the institution undergoing doctoral
programmes within and outside the country to concentrate on their studies while
assuring them of Management's support.
Speaking earlier, Dr. Idris thanked the University Management for their support and assured them of his readiness to contribute immensely to the development of the institution.
Dr.
Idris who is the National Vice-President of the Cyber Security Experts
Association of Nigeria (CSEAN) has his PhD thesis titled: ENHANCED NEGATIVE
SELECTION ALGORITHM FOR EMAIL SPAM DETECTION.
It
would be recalled that Dr. Mohammed Baba Ndalimna of the Department of
Mechanical Engineering also emerged as the best graduate PhD student in
Engineering at the International Islamic University Malaysia, (IIUM).
FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC, NASARAWA WANTS PARTNERSHIP WITH FUT, MINNA
The Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, Nasarawa State, has expressed
interest to partner with the University to enable it run some degree
programmes.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Shettima Abdulkadir Saidu, made
this known when he paid a courtesy visit to the University's Management on
Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at the Council Chamber, Main Campus.
The Rector who
was accompanied on the visit by the Director, Degree Programmes, Mal. Mouahtar
Mai, said the choice of FUT, Minna, was borne out of the past involvement he had
with the University while he was Provost, Federal College of Education,
Technical, Potiskum. He pointed out that the Polytechnic has all that is required
to run degree programmes in accordance with the standard of quality that the
University is known for.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Musbau
Adewumi Akanji, FNSBMB, who congratulated Dr. Saidu on his recent appointment
as the Rector of the Polytechnic, thanked him for finding the University worthy
to partner with.
Prof. Akanji stressed the need to put in place a technical
committee that would assess things on ground and discuss with the Polytechnic
team on the workability of the proposal, in accordance with the rules guiding
the University in such partnership.
