Rashhed Ladoja |
The governorship candidate of the Accord Party in Oyo State of Nigeria, Rashidi Ladoja, has said on
Tuesday that he has enough evidence to annul the victory of Governor
Abiola Ajimobi in the Saturday’s governorship.
“We have enough concrete evidences,
which we will present to the tribunal. We will not take laws into our
hands,” Ladoja said while calming his supporters in Ibadan.
Accord Party (AP) supporters had trooped
to the headquarters of the party in the Samonda area of Ibadan to
protest its loss to the All Progressives Congress.
Ladoja urged the supporters not to take the law into their own hands.
He said his mandate was stolen from him
by APC and that AP would present all the evidences before the Election
Petition Tribunal.
He begged his supporters to have faith in the decision of the election tribunal.
He also alleged that the state
government had been using thugs to harass AP members and others who
supported the party and his candidacy during the election, warning that
the party would take to the streets in protest if the alleged assault
continued.
Ladoja said, “The government’s thugs
have started harassing our people in the markets, in their homes and
garages. We will not tolerate this one. If it continues, we will show
them that they are not as many as we are.
“The will of the people will prevail.
Your will shall be protected; I will use everything within my powers.
The last of my blood will go for it. I will not disappoint you. I will
fight on your side, if they continue, we will take to the streets and we
will see if they can stand.”
The results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, showed Ajimobi
polled a total of 327,310 votes to beat his closest rival, Ladoja, who
polled 254,520 votes.
