Gabriel Suswan |
1. Governor Gabriel Suswam (Benue,
PDP): Governor Suswam assumed office as a
young, educated and vibrant man and so was expectation for him to take the state
to another height was high. But it’s another story today because the state has
been drawn back to even worst state than the way it was before Suswan assumed
office. A monumental debt including accumulated debt of unpaid salaries of public
workers is what the present administration is inheriting from former governor
Gabriel Suswan. Abandoned, dilapitated infrastructures litteres all round the
state. This is evident from the result
of his election to the senate house. One can easily say, his nemesis caught up
with him.
Jonah Jang |
2. Governor Jonah Jang (Plateau,
PDP): A former Military Administrator
which one would have expected him to use his experience to transform the state
to a state to be reckoned with in the country. He rather indulged himself in
more politricks practicing than given the people the value of their votes of
bringing him into the office. Jang allowed
himself to be used by the past presidency to disorganized the Nigerian
Governors Forum. It’s from former governor Jonah Jang we learnt that “16 is
more than 19”. The state became a security threat due to his biased conduct. if
there is one state that the residents are happy that the government of yesterday
vacated office, it is Plateau State. The state peaceful atmosphere was
disintegrated because of the governor’s vehemently opposition to constructive
criticisms and due to religious and tribal differences.
3. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi
(Rivers, APC): Amaechi was one of the best governor during his
first term in the office between 2007-2011. The ex-governor of Rivers state
allowed himself to be distracted by his political disagreements with the
presidency, expecially with the ex-First lady, Dame Patience Jonathan. Amaechi
is all talk but no action, who hardly stay in the state as he was always
scouting the entire length of the country seeking political affiliations that
were unnecessary while his State was at a standstill. He is a man that will
always lay blames on his political opponents to cover his own failures, but
will turn a blind eye to his own obvious incompetence. A very controversial
individual, whom all the crisis in the Governors forum, and other political
crisis which surfaced during the past three years in the country could be
traced to him. Amaechi left behind a legacy of non-performance, at least for
his second term in office.
Ramalan Yero (Kaduna, PDP):
Ramalan assumed power as a result of death of his boss, Late Governor Patrick
Yakowa who died in a helicopter crash alongside a former National Security
Adviser, Gen. Owoeye Azazi. Expectation was high as Ramalan took over the
government of Kaduna because of his young age and to the legacies the late
governor Yakowa has laid down for him. But the governor had other ideas. He was
busy cementing his obvious political relationship with the past vice president,
Namadi Sambo. He later became the past vice president’s wand and listening ear
in kaduna being from the state also. He was throughout his tenure distracted and
never really make any reasonable impact. The state vast resources was largely under-utilized
under him. No wonder, he was widely defeated by the former Minister of Federal
Capital Territory (FCT), Mallam Nasir El-Rufai in a landslide election.
Theodore Orji |
5. Governor Theodore Orji
(Abia, PDP): This is one of the clueless leader Nigeria has
ever produced. One wonders if this man really understand what roles is expected of him as a governor. This is the man
who has blamed his unproductive and disastrous first term in the office as the governor on
over-bearing influence of his erstwhile political god-father and former
governor of the same state, Orji Uzor Kalu. Then begged for re-election in the
2011 general election and promised to
make amendments and retrace his missing lines. He was pardoned and given another chance, but
still couldn’t hit the ground. The newly elected Senator representing Abia
North in the incoming Senate, relies on propaganda to cover his show of shame
in Abia State. Aba, the commercial
centre of the state was virtually the same it was eight years ago. Umuahia is also
another worst state capitals in the country. The popularly called “Ochendo” contributed almost nothing to the development
of Abia state and one wonder what to expect from this man now that is resuming
into the senate chamber in the next
dispensation.
