A group of armed robbers laid siege on
Owo-Oba-Akoko- Ikare road at the weekend for daylight robbery and killed one Rev
Father Onyeka and his younger brother, Obi Onyeka on their way from Lagos to Ugbe-Akoko
community in Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The Police Spokesman said efforts were on to
arrest the perpetrators, while assuring passengers of their safety on Akoko and
other roads across the state
The deceased who together with his family were from the South-Eastern
part of the country but resides in Ugbe-Akoko, Ondo State, in the South West.
Sources said the two brothers were shot several
times after the robbers waylaid them between Ose and Oba-Akoko road.
The vehicle in which they were travelling was
said to have consequently burst into flames.
The whole community of Ugbe-akoko was thrown into
mourning after scores of symphatisers were seen at Ugbe-Akoko residence of Mr
Onyeka, the father of the deceased, who is said to be a celebrated baker in the
ancient community.
