May 25, 2015
A group of eight students from Schools of Applied
Sciences and Technology; Communication and Information Technology and
Engineering Technology in the Polytechnic, have developed a website to serve as
a veritable source of information on past and current events as regards
politics; sports; security; fashion; education; entertainment; nutrition;
information technology and history.
It is on record that students of the Polytechnic
have always distinguished themselves in entrepreneurial, innovative and
self-employment activities through which the Polytechnic has gained recognition
as an institution of many firsts.
In a chat with FEDPOFFA Bulletin, the
students, led by the Deputy Director of the Polytechnic Entrepreneurship
Development Centre, Engr. Obaje, revealed that they were propelled into taking
such actions, having observed inadequate supply of needed information and low
knowledge of the people especially the students, on issues bothering on their
immediate environments.
Although, one of the main reasons for setting up
the website, according to the group, was to provide timely and important
information to students of the Polytechnic but such efforts, the group said,
would not be limited to the Federal Polytechnic Offa alone as it would spread
its coverage to other tertiary institutions across the country.
Aside the aforementioned segments provided for on
the website, the group said it would also add search job segment in order to
provide detailed information on job vacancies for applicants.
The website, which may stiffly compete with the
likes of www.naij.com and www.premiumtimes.com, is www.bentopxel.com.
The group is comprised is Aluko Temitope (Computer
Technology); Gbolahan Benjamin (Computer Technology); Ejiro Excellent (Computer
Technology); Aileru Sherifdeen (Office Technology Management) and Oke Benjamin
(Mass Communication). Others are Adereyo Oke (Mass Communication); Adesope
