Political Appointees' Pay Slash In Osun State is a Propaganda: PDP Osun.

Gov. Rauf Aregbesola
The Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State has described as propaganda the 50 per cent slash in salaries and allowance of political office holders.

Speaking to some journalists in Osogbo the Osun State capital on Tuesday, Mr. Diran Odeyemi, the PDP spokesman, said the announcement made by the state governor is nothing but propaganda since the state only has three political functionaries presently.

“We however condemn the propaganda of the government that it has reduced the salaries of political functionaries by 50 per cent.
“We want to state categorically that only the Deputy Governor, Chief of Staff, and Secretary to the State Government are political functionaries as Governor Aregbesola has refused to appoint commissioners since October 2014,” Mr. Diran Odeyemi explained.

He also expressed his feelings over the payment of the workers’ salaries made by the state governor as a disappointment. He said the state government succeeded in paying only one month salary despite owing workers seven months of unpaid salaries.

“It is indeed a shock for Osun workers to receive payment alert of their December salary in July leaving an outstanding seven months unpaid with no fixed date for paying the rest,” Mr. Odeyemi said.

He urged the state civil servants and retirees to be calm and law abiding citizen as they go through this trying time, as he also sympathized with them.
