SSANU threatens strike in LAUTECH over unpaid salaries

Members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso have said that they will embark on strike from August 11 to protest against the non-payment of their salaries.

The LAUTECH-SSANU Chairman, Muraina Aleshinloye, made this known in a statement on Monday.

According to him, the authorities of the university, owned by the governments of Oyo and Osun states, owe them 13 months salaries.

Aleshinloye, who accused governors Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo) and Rauf Aregbesola (Osun) of not funding the institution well, said their action was affecting workers and pensioners of the university negatively.

The governors, he added, had denied the institution its financial entitlements.

The statement read, “By the nonchalant attitude of the two governors to the university, our pensioners could not be paid while payment of gratuity has been postponed indefinitely. The university is in comatose and anarchy is imminent.”
