The Christian Association of Nigeria, Lagos State
chapter, has said it approves of the state government’s clampdown on noise
pollution.
The group said it had been sensitising churches
to keep to the directive of the government.
The state’s Secretary of CAN, Dr. Israel
Akinadewo, stated this in a statement on Sunday.
He said, “The Christian leadership will support
all policies of the government that will favour the downtrodden, eradicate
poverty among the citizens of Lagos State.
“We are against noise pollution and have been
sensitising our members on the need to obey the law of the land, and as the
umbrella body of all Christians in Lagos, we expect the Lagos State
Environmental Protection Agency, and other government agencies to always
communicate with us on actions to be taken, affecting the church.
“CAN in Lagos State has a history of good
relationship with the government, and we shall continue on this through
effective communication with the agencies of the state.”
The group’s secretary said CAN was not partisan,
and would always support the good policies of the government.
“The direction of the new leadership of CAN in
Lagos State is to project the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, train
our members on effective leadership, continue to work for the unity and peace
of Lagos State,” he added.
