WITHOUT playing any match since the previous ranking was released in July, Nigeria moved four places up to 53rd in the August edition of the FIFA ranking.
Nigeria’s score points remained 601, and they remained 10th in Africa.
Africa’s top 10 also retained their positions with Algeria, who are 19th in the world, leading the pack, followed by African champions Ivory Coast (21st), Ghana (27th) and Tunisia (34th).
The other teams ranked above Nigeria in Africa are Senegal, Cameroon, Congo, Cape Verde and Egypt in that order.
Nigeria’s next match will be a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture on September 5 against Tanzania, who are ranked 140th globally and 41st in Africa.
Argentina remained number 1, Belgium moved one place to second, pushing Germany to third.
Chile entered the top 10 at the expense of the Netherlands, who fell seven places to 12th.
