Super
Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has selected Sunshine Stars duo of IkechukwuEzenwa
and Prince Aggreh among the six home-based professionals to face Tanzania in
next week’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Dar es Salaam.
Other
players on Oliseh’s list are Solomon Kwambe of Warri Wolves, Austin Obaroakpo
of Abia Warriors, U-23 team playerr Mohammed Usman and Sharks’ Chima Akas.
Oliseh
had earlier posted on Twitter that the players from the Nigeria Professional
Football League have shown “lots of promise” after a week of training in Abuja.
The
players were named after the Super Eagles’ 3-0 win over Amakson Soccer Academy
in a friendly on Thursday.
According
to SuperSport, NPFL leading scorer, Tunde Adeniji scored twice and Wikki
Tourists striker, Godwin Obaje, got among the goals in the encounter.
There
was also time within the game for El-Kanemi Warriors attacking midfielder,
Ifeanyi Matthew, to miss a spot kick while Warri Wolves goalkeeper Okiemute
Odah, among those not listed for the Tanzania game, saved a penalty awarded to
Amakson Soccer Academy.
Oliseh
has now sent home all of the NPFL players to join up with their clubs for this
weekend’s matches while the six selected players will return to the Abuja camp
to continue in Nigeria’s preparation for the Tanzania match along with the
overseas-based players.
The
Super Eagles are expected to leave Abuja for Tanzania via a chartered Arik Air
flight on Thursday. The team will move straight to Port Harcourt from Tanzania
to continue preparations for the September 8 friendly against Niger Republic.
