Yoruba actor, Ajigijaga dies at 60

Award-winning Yoruba movie actor and event manager, Mufutau Sanni Abdulahi, fondly called ‘Ajigijaga’, who is famous for his roles as leader of criminal activities in movies is dead.

DAILY POST recalls that the veteran actor had celebrated his 60th birthday two weeks ago.

Comrade Saidi Balogun, President of The Golden Movie Ambassadors of Nigeria, confirmed his death.

However, the cause of his death is unknown as at the time of this report.

Speaking with DAILY POST on the incident, one of the leaders of the Yoruba Motion Picture, Mr Dele Odule said: “It is a very sad one. The only thing is one has to see life as it comes. We didn’t envisage this but since it happened, we only pray to God to grant him eternal rest.”

When asked what he thinks the deceased would be remembered for, Mr Dele said, “He was a very nice person backstage. When he is on stage, following his act, you may think he could do anything like smoking marijuana and drinking all sorts of alchohol, but you will be shocked he never did any of these backstage. He never took hard drugs or Indian hemp.

“His roles usually if you recall, revealed him as a bad and hard-hearted person, but I came to realize that his character in the movies had nothing to do with his real life; I respect him a lot for that. He will be remembered for his humility and good heart.

“We will miss him a lot. A gem and good hand has left us and I do hope God will grant his soul eternal rest,” he added.

The actor cum film maker reportedly died at his residence in Oko-Oba, Agege at the age of 60.
