Fake Ogun revenue collectors nabbed with gun

Police operatives attached to the Onipanu division of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspects for forcefully and illegally demanding waybills from tanker drivers and extorting money from them in the Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Area.

The suspects names were given as were Rasheed Sholanke and Lukman Adebesin.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, said the suspects were arrested after one of the victims called attention of the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Onipanu to the illegal activities of the duo.

Adejobi said, “Some police detectives were dispatched to the scene where the suspects were arrested with a single -barrelled gun and one fake police warrant card.

He said, “The suspects could not give the police any satisfactory answer on how the fake police warrant card came to be in their possession.

“The Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, has directed that the matter be properly investigated and the suspects be charged to court.

“He also warned those who stay on the highway to extort money from motorists to desist as such act because such will no longer be tolerated by the police command.”
