If Buhari raises Audu’s hands as APC candidate, it will affect his integrity – Activist

A rights activist, Emmanuel Adejoh, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari anti-corruption stance may be negatively affected following the emergence of Prince Abubakar Audu as Kogi governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Kogi State governorship election is scheduled to hold November 21.

Audu is accused of money laundering and embezzlement of public funds and is under prosecution by anti-corruption agencies.

Adejoh said it was unfortunate that the APC helped Audu, who is standing trial, emerge as its candidate.

His words: “The essence of the APC screening of candidates for the election was supposed to ensure that only credible people are allowed to contest the governorship poll.

“I am not a politician but as a citizen of this state, I am waiting for the day Buhari will stand on the podium to lift the hand of Prince Audu who has been accused by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of corrupt practices.

“Though Audu has not been convicted, many people in the state are already insinuating that Audu is desperate about the governorship in order to alter the course of justice.”
