Borno
State Governor, Kashim Shettima, on Thursday, sent 21 names to the Borno State
House of Assembly for approval as commissioners.
The
governor also submitted the names of 27 persons to the House of Assembly for
consideration as chairmen of the local government councils of the state.
Also
sent for the consideration of the Assembly were the names of chairmen of some
state boards.
The
governor, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Communications and
Strategy, Isa Gusau, said the names of the 21 nominees on the commissioners’
list sent included Usman Zannah, Fanta Shehu, brahim Babale, Yerima Kareto,
Mohammed Kauji and Sugun Mele, among others.
Apart
from the 27 names sent to the Assembly for confirmation as LG chairmen, the
governor also sent the names of councillor-nominees for the various wards in
the state.
The
list of the names for board chairmen included Dr. Shettima Kullima for Borno
State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Suleiman Bello for Borno State
Teaching Service Board and Mr. Satomi Ahmed for the Borno State Emergency
Management Agency.
The
governor also sent in the name of Malah Mustafa Kukawa as Commissioner to the
Assembly. Kukawa will serve as a member of the Borno State Local Government Service
Commission.
The
statement added that the governor has pruned the number of ministries in the
state from 24 to 21.
“All
the appointments were made to ensure a good balance of the various components
that make up Borno State. Those appointed were carefully selected based on
their individual merits.
“The
governor anticipates the cooperation of the Borno State House of Assembly which
has extended very cordial working relationship with the executive arm of
government. The governor assures the good citizens of Borno State of his
administration’s overriding commitment to deliver on his campaign pledges,” the
statement said.
