Fuji musician, Adewale Ayuba, which his followers also referred to as “mr
Johnson” has finally opened up on his decision to ditched his root religion,
“Islam” to joined his newly found “christainity” religion
Fuji music is known to be very popular among the Muslims
and this is largely due to the fact that the
genre of the music has its roots
from the Islamic religion.
The story of Fuji music originated from “Ajiwere,” another genre of music that
was popularly played during the Ramadan period in those days and still in
practice in some areas of the states which are largely dominated by Muslims,
especially in the South Western part of the country.
In a chat with Mr. Adewale Ayuba in his Lagos
house recently, he said he crossed to Christianity because “it is a religion that permits its believers to communicate
directly with their God without any intermediary. I’m not saying that Islam is
not a good religion, but I prefer Christianity now. There will always be a
stage in life when one would know what best works for him.”
Since Ayuba’s career began to blossom in the
early 90s, he has carved a niche for himself. His brand of fuji unlike most of
his colleagues attracted more corporate followers. He has to his record many
albums, one of which is his album title “Bubble” which brought him to the
limelight in the early 90’s.
Ayuba’s
new religious decision came as a shock to many of his friends, considering the
fact that he has bagged many Islamic titles like the ‘Osupa Adini’, Alhaji,
among others, and was known to be a devoted and committed Muslim.
