Emmanuel Adebayor is now a free agent, after Tottenham Hotspur terminated his contract by mutual agreement.
The 31-year-old was left out of the club’s Premier League and Europa League squads and was not given a squad number, as he fell out of favour over the summer.
Adebayor failed to seal transfers to Aston Villa and West Ham, as he sought to run down the final year of his deal at Spurs.
A statement on Spurs’ official website on Sunday said: “We can confirm that we have reached a mutual agreement with Emmanuel Adebayor which will see him released from his contract with the club.
“We wish Emmanuel well for the future.”
Adebayor made only 17 appearances in all competitions last season and scored twice.
