Kabir Tukur, 35, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly killing his nephew.
According to Daily Independent, the State's Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Haruna confirmed that the suspect lured his nephew into the bush and slaughtered him.
The incident happened on the morning of Tuesday, October 13, in Kirfi Local Government, Bauchi State.
The deceased, 11-year-old Auwalu Manu, was the son of the suspect's younger brother.
According
to Harun, the suspect attempted suicide by slicing his own throat,
however, Tukur only lost his consciousness in the process and was rushed
to the hospital.
The victim and suspect were
rushed to ATBU Teaching Hospital Bauchi and the victim was certified
death by a medical doctor while the suspect was admitted for medical
attention,” he added.
Haruna said the police
visited the scene of the crime and recovered a blood stained hand trowel
as an exhibit. He also said the corpse was photographed and released to
relatives for burial according to Islamic rites after Autopsy. The case
was put under investigation.
The motive behind the murder remains unclear.
