The visit attracted a large turnout of traders, shoppers and onlookers who besieged his motorcade to welcome him and his entourage to the market.
The traders particularly complained of high cost of fish, onions and rice.
He interacted with a fish seller who sought government’s intervention to reduce the cost of the shop which is N250,000 per annum.
A rice seller, Nasiru Maiyaki Kuryfi, complained of inadequate store space, saying that the market management had not been able to complete the shops they paid for long ago.
Osinbajo promised to talk to the market management on the high cost of rent but he also encourage the traders and all other Nigerians to go into farming.
“The more we farm the cost of products will come down”.
He told reporters after the visit that he wanted to feel the pulse of Nigerians and hear directly from the people.
The Acting President said he took the opportunity to have one on one with the people and gave the assurance that the administration was committed to improving the economy and ensure better life.
Osinbajo encouraged the traders to keep the prices of products affordable as Muslims kick start this year’s Ramadan.
