PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari on Thursdaymet with former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff behind closed doors at the presidential villa, Abuja.
Sheriff, who recently defected to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), came into the villa at about 2.45pm and went to the president‘ s office where he remained till about 3.45pm.
After his meeting with the president, he exchanged pleasantries with some state governors who were just emerging from a meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC).
All attempts by correspondents to chat with him concerning his mission, failed as he was hurried out by villa security through Administrative Officer’s secures gate.
The Supreme Court sacked Sheriff as PDP boss in July last year after a protracted legal battle with then National Caretaker Committee of the party led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi.
Some members of APC had resisted his return to the party which he helped to found.
