Corper rehabilitates health centre

RESIDENTS of Jatapi Gidan-Kwanu in the Basso Local Government Area of Niger State have lauded a youth corps member, Veronica Itiku, who rehabilitated a health centre that had been abandoned for 13 years.

The people said they trekked for about 25 kilometres to other health centres for medical treatment.

It was also gathered that the community of over 3000 people has no drinking water, electricity and road.

A community leader, Alhaji Abdulmalik Mohammed, disclosed this to Northern City News while appreciating Itiku for renovating the health centre.

The Niger State Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps, Mrs. Theresa Arokoyo, told youth corps members to restrict themselves to the guidelines for the execution of community development projects.

Arokoyo said deviation from the guidelines for the execution of CDS projects would result in the inability of the NYSC to recommend such projects for national honours awards.

“Corps members should embark on laudable CDS projects which are beneficial to their host communities

“Such projects should however be carried out following strictly the laid down rules as stipulated by the NYSC guidelines. Any deviation may amount to the inability of the NYSC to recommend such projects for the national honours awards,” she said while commending Itiku for the project.
