Five Katsina burglars risk jail


A Katsina Senior Magistrates’ Court has reserved till May 28, 2018 sentence on five persons accused of house-breaking and stealing valuables worth N4m.

The accused were convicted by the court on Thursday after their summary trial during which they pleaded guilty to the charges of criminal conspiracy, trespass, house-breaking and theft.

The accused persons are Muslim Ibrahim, Ibrahim Shehu, Abubakar Ahmad, Mustapha Abubakar and Jibrin Isah, all of Batagarawa  low cost housing estate, Katsina.

The police told the court that one Hajiya Asiya Kabir reported on April 21, 2018 at the State Intelligence and Investigation Bureau of a recent burglary incident in her house located at Batagarawa low cost housing estate.

She further said that valuables valued at over N4m were stolen during the burglary incident.

The presiding Senior Magistrate, Hajiya Fadile Dikko, after reviewing the case, said, “The case is hereby adjourned to May 28 for sentencing.”

She directed that Ibrahim, Ahmad and Isah be remanded in prison custody while Shehu and Abubakar were kept in police custody.
