TWO men–Kehinde Olaoluwa and Stephen Adu–who allegedly robbed a man of his motorcycle valued at N280,000 at gunpoint, were on Monday brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The accused–Olaoluwa, 34; a painter and Adu, 38; a factory worker— are facing a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy and robbery.
Police Prosecutor Michael Unah told the court that the accused committed the offences with some other persons now at large on Feb. 20 at 10:00 p. m. at Agbede, Owotu area of Ikorodu, Lagos.
Unah alleged that the accused armed themselves with guns and other offensive weapons and robbed one Samaila Mutari of his Bajaj Motorcycle with Reg. No. AGL.500QJ.
“The accused attacked the complainant with their weapons before they robbed him.
“He shouted for help and some passersby apprehended the accused and handed him over to the police,’’ he said.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 297 (2) 328, 330 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 297 prescribes a 21-year jail term for robbery.
Also, Section 411 stipulates a two-year jail term for conspiracy.
In his ruling, the chief magistrate, Mr A. A. Fashola remanded the accused in Kirikiri Prisons.
He also ordered that the case file should be sent to the office of the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPPs) for advice.
Fashola adjourned the case until July 7
