The proprietor of a school in Ogun state has been arrested for allegedly tying two pupils to a cross while the principal flogged them afterward.
Afolayan Joseph, proprietor of Metorite Standard School in the Ayetoro area of Ogun state and the school's principal are reported to have meted out the callous punishment to the students, then attacked a police officer who ordered them to untie the students.
Punch Metro reports that the policeman, whose name was given only as Livinus, ordered Afolayan Joseph to untie the students but the proprietor refused then went on to also beat up the policeman. Following the attack, Livinus called the Divisional Police Officer of the Itele Police Station to send officers to arrest the proprietor and his principal.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrests of the two men, as well as a teacher in the school. He said they will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department.
