A pastor popularly known as Teke was among three persons reportedly killed three on Monday morning when a group of suspected cultists raided Ibaa community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The cultists, who were members of Icelanders’ cult group, were said to have embarked on a reprisal as they shot indiscriminately in the community about 3am.
It was learnt that though the three persons, who lost their lives were not cult members, the assailants could have decided to kill them in order to send a message across to the rival cult group in the area.
“The boys came this morning and they started shooting around 7am. They killed Friday Nsirim while he was on the road because he rides a motorcycle. They also killed a hunter at Omuobizu area of Ibaa. They later killed pastor of a church called Teke.
“They said he makes a charm for the Deygbam boys. We are calling on security operatives and the governor of the state to intervene in the killings in our community,” a source from the community said.
The incident, according to the source, had caused fear in the community, even as some indigenes expressed sadness over the ugly incident.
However, a call to the mobile phone of the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, indicated that it was switched off
