In a last-ditch effort to forestall a full-blown crisis, governors on the platform of the All Progressives Congress have started a series of consultative meetings in Abuja.
The first in the series held at the Imo State Governors’ Lodge, Asokoro on Wednesday.
Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, who is also the Chairman of the Progressives Governor’s Forum, hosted the meeting which had yet to start as of 8:00pm.
Apart from the host, those who had arrived the venue of the meeting were: Governors Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Abubakar Bindow (Adamawa), Kashim Shettima (Borno), and Aminu Masari (Katsina.). Others were the deputy governors of Lagos and Kaduna states.
Meanwhile, members of the APC said to be loyal to the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, have raised the alarm over what they alleged was the compilation of a ‘fake’ delegates’ list for the APC national convention.
The state APC Publicity Secretary, Mr. Sulyman Buhari, in a statement issued in Ilorin, on Wednesday, identified two unnamed groups as the perpetrators of the illegal act.
Buhari said, “It has come to the notice of the APC in Kwara State that two different groups, led by members of our party, have been compiling a fake list of delegates ahead of the national convention of the party in Abuja.
“We have it on good authority that a meeting held in the house of a chieftain of the party in GRA, Ilorin, wherein the decision to start compiling the fake list was taken. We are equally aware of another group, led by some Abuja-based politicians, which has even procured branded buses and banners, vests and Ankara, among others to be used by the fake delegates.
“They even went to the extent of making accommodation arrangements at Wuse area of Abuja for their delegates.
