Former Vice President and PDP flagbearer for the 2019 Presidential race, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has made a pledge of a living wage for the Nigerian workers if voted in the momentous 2019 presidential election.

Atiku’s pledge is coming at a time the country’s labour unions are mounting intense pressure on the Federal Government to accede to proposed N30 000 national minimum wage. A figure the FG has repeatedly declined for fear of implementation by all parties involved.

However, the former Vice President in a post shared on his Twitter page Thursday, give repeated assurances on his ability to deliver on a living wage for Nigerians.

Atiku wrote, “I want the Nigerian Labour Congress, the Trade Union Congress and the generality of Nigeria’s workers to be assured of my commitment to the principle of a living wage for Nigeria’s workers.

“In my private enterprises, I have shown commitment to the goose that lays the golden egg, and if given the opportunity, I shall extend that commitment to the public sector.”
