As promised to keep you guys on the loop on the latest development following viral reports that a 400l student of Bowen University got the Vice Chancellor’s wife pregnant, the Vice Chancellor himself has reacted.
Speaking through his official Twitter page, @VCBowenuni, the VC revealed the viral rumour were set out by people looking for publicity and retweets and perfectly steered by the gullibility of people on the platform.
His exact tweet reads:
“Twitter is a humorous/good place only strained by the gullibility of people to quickly accept &spread fake /cheap news (intended to misinform & for publicity). It is absolutely wrong. As partners in progress, no man/Institution must be ‘pulled down’ in the name of rts & trends.”
Many students of the institution had already confirmed the incident to be false revealing that the reason the school was shutdown was because some students refused to under go some drug test because they were on it and became violent while trying to prevent the test.
In reaction, the VC had to shutdown the school, and this was his announcement on Twitter about that:
“#1 It has been a long day – Apparently every leader has a day like this. Howbeit, I shall not give answers which you already know. Instead, I’ll like to reaffirm my commitment to the re-positioning and re-branding of @bowenuniversity .
#2 As a Christian Institution bent on instilling excellence and godliness in Students and ensuring that our products are are unequivocally, god -fearing, disciplined and honest in all their dealings across the world. We would continue our war against indiscipline, immorality…
#3 and the common vices that has made our society barely tolerable for sane minds. I personally, deem it fit that I owe the society an obligation to mentor young minds into becoming great people. I trust that the parents would join forces and remain as supportive as ever.
#4 The decision to close down the institution has been a tough one, which we hope that students and Parents would bear with. I wish all our students in transit safe landing. The management would communicate a resumption date in due course.”
