The Nigerian military has assured Nigerians that  there is no cause for alarm, following the recaptur of Marte in Borno state by terrorist group, Boko Haram on Friday, May 16.

In a statement by the Defence Headquarters, posted on Facebook on Saturday, May 16, the Army said the insurgents ran to Marte because their hideouts in Sambisa Forest and environs have been raided by the ongoing military onslaught, admitting that there is less military presence in Marte because the town has been deserted by residents.

He noted further that Nigerian troops did not suffer any casualty during these operations.
He also stressed that most of the inhabitants of the town are either in one Internally Displaced Persons camp or the other.

The force stressed that it will deploy men to Marte, now that is known that terrorists are escaping there, while reinforcing that the terrorists will have no breathing space anywhere they are hiding by the time the troop take their operation to them again.
