The
representative of Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan federal constituency in the House of
Representatives, Mrs. Ayo Omidiran, has said that the Osun State government
will pay its workers all outstanding salaries this month.
Speaking
in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Monday, Omidiran gave the
assurance that all civil servants in the employ of the state government would
receive their salaries before the Eid-el-Kabir festival.
Omidiran,
whose group, Osun State Legislative Forum, had called on Osun workers to be
patient with the state government over the unpaid salaries, said the salaries
would be paid after the ongoing staff audit in the civil service had been
conducted.
She
said, “We, the Osun State Legislative Forum, have the fullest assurance from
Governor Rauf Aregbesola that our workers will be paid all their salary arrears
this month. The money is ready. It is only the ongoing staff audit that is
delaying the payment.
“The
staff evaluation has even made the government to weed ghost workers out of the
system. Our people should know that this government will never forsake them. We
are soon going to put this salary issue behind us and together, we’ll march on
to continue to develop Osun.
“No
government in the history of the state has developed Osun as the Rauf
Aregbesola administration has done.”
Various
categories of workers are being owed salary arrears ranging from seven, five
and four months.
