Governor El-Rufai of Kaduna State led administration in Kaduna has uncovered a total of N24 billion from different accounts scattered around banks in the state.
The
disclosure of the recovery was made known by the state deputy governor, Arch
Bala Barnabas Bantex during a town hall meeting in Southern Kaduna on Saturday,
September 5, 2015.
According to the report, about N24 billion has
been recovered from 423 different bank accounts following the government’s
decision to adopt a single account.
Bantex further revealed that the 423 accounts
were operated by the previous administration.
According to him, the adoption of a single
account by the state government brought about the recovery of the funds.
Governor Akiwumi Ambode of Lagos State has also announced
his decision to run a single bank account to be operated by the state
government to reduce the financial wastefulness and excesses which is believed
to be perpetrated using different bank accounts by any arm of government.
