By
virtue of her marriage to former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who was
Nigeria’s 13th leader, Turai Yar’Adua, was Nigeria’s former First Lady.
Glamorous in a subtle way, Turai, as she is fondly addressed, enjoyed the love
and admiration of many. Not a few persons sought her friendship but all of
these came to an abrupt end when her husband passed away in May 2010.
Shuttling
between the nation’s capital, Abuja, and Katsina, she rarely visited Lagos.
Aside from that, she hardly attended parties hosted by her ilk, therefore making
her less visible. It was therefore a surprise when more than five years after
Yar’Adua’s demise, she made a sharp detour from the usual by turning up at a
former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola’s daughter’s wedding
which held in Lagos last weekend.
Looking
robust, the former First Lady was attired in colourful attire that depicted the
mood of the occasion. All smiles, her table became a Mecca as not a few
dignitaries went to exchange pleasantries with her.
