Nigerian Customs Service, NCS, is set to relieve another 400 officers from its cadre.
Reasons for the development include corruption, insubordination, indiscipline and absenteeism, Vanguard reports.
Some
of the officers pencilled allegedly flouted re-deployment directives as
well as influenced their promotion even when they were not due to be
promoted.
They
were said to have refused to report at their new postings and instead
obtained notes from legislators, who lobbied customs management to stop
such re-deployment.
Last week, five Deputy Comptrollers-General of the Nigerian Customs Service, NCS, voluntary retired, an occurrence regarded as the first in the service’s history.
Others officers were also shown the exit door on account of age and years of service in what was described as ‘re-organisation’.
