Nigeria's Business Magnate, Deinde Fernandez Dies At 79



One of Nigeria’s multi billionaires, and dynamic diplomats, Oluwo Antonio Deinde Fernandez is dead.

Fernandez who was 79died on Tuesday, September 1, in Brussels, Belgium from what sources close to the family termed an age-related ailment. A source disclosed that he had been ill very briefly, but non was expecting him to die soon.

The late chief is father to Ms. Teju Philips, a former commissioner in Lagos state, Ms. Antionette Oyinkansola Fernandez, and Abimbola Fernandez, a Nigerian musician and model for Vivienne Westwood.

The philanthropist had a colourful lifestyle, he often is described as a man with great love for the beautiful things of life.

Before his death, he was the permanent representative of the Central African Republic (CAR) to the United Nations (UN). In 1992, he was appointed special adviser to the president of Mozambique on international economic matters, he served for three years.
